Injured Global Economy Ponders Coming Challenges | International Forecaster Weekly Bob Chapman The International Forcaster | Economy News | Investing | US Market Information | Gold | Silver | Wall Street Bailouts | Investment Trends | Money Resources | US and Worldwide Politics
December 21 2011: No understanding of debt repayment, banks and Euro zone nations broke, Fed opens swap floodgates, nations on the edge of default await aid, recapitalization, European plunge into recession is underway, quantitative easing the cause of inflation, 40 million on food stamps in the US, Ron Paul the best choice still, Greece to tip Europe over the edge.
Debt repayment is a subject few want to discuss, or that few understand. We know most of the largest banks in the world are broke along with at least 6-euro zone nations. There are many others, but the most concerning are the debts of major nations, which are supposedly solvent. Needless to say the US is deeply indebted and the Super-Congress Enabling Committee couldn’t even lay politics aside to cut spending increases.
A bill has been entered into Congress to prohibit US funds being used via the IMF to bail out European banks and governments. We see a scant chance of passage because of the elitist control of both Houses. On the other hand it makes little difference, because the Fed has opened the swap floodgates and other avenues of secret funding to “recapitalize,” bailout, European banks of all sizes and depths of default.
As we end 2011 it is all quiet on the Western Front. Behind the scenes unbeknownst to almost all the elitists are plotting and planning on how to extricate themselves from the morass they have gotten themselves into. How do they put the crisis on the back burner and extend the timeline? The vaunted 6 nations on the edge of default await aid, but one might ask from whom? That solution hasn’t even been sorted out as yet, and we now find France facing a possible two level lowering of debt ratings, but even Germany is not as solvent as they were thought to be. Could it be that France and Germany might not be able to repay their debts? Now you can understand why the money machine, known as the Fed, says nothing about their bailout of Europe. 95% of the population of the world doesn’t even know what a swap is. Even if they did understand they are never going to get the truth from the Fed. We saw that in court and GAO revelations recently.
The European Central Bank, ECB, does not have the Fed’s ability to continue to create money and credit. That means that the taxpayers in each nation must foot the bill, unless the Fed prints money for them. Thus, we see a central bank, which really is not a central bank. Germany is still not allowing the ECB to emulate the Bank of England and Federal Reserve. Germans still vividly remember the Weimar Republic and the resultant rise of National Socialism and Adolph Hitler. Even if such possibilities do not exist today they still see rampant inflation as a result of endless funding. Northern Europeans, in spite of participating in the EU and the euro zone, understand the frailties and cultural differences of their neighbors in the south. Europe has pursed the wrong path for more than two years. There simply isn’t anyway to bail out the six. They have to allow them to default and leave the euro.
The short-term cost is $6 trillion just to go sideways for a year or two. After that the underlying problem will still exist, and it will be worse. Professionals in part recognize the problems and as a result interest rates have risen and the entire European system is under pressure, including their stock markets. We know that “The President’s Working Group on Financial Markets” has been active in markets worldwide, but because it is secret, we do no know the extent of market manipulation in keeping world markets up when they should be down. When Ron Paul becomes President of the United States and the reign of the bankers ends we will then be able to see what these criminals have been up too. A good part of the world is headed into recession and depression. Europe’s plunge into recession is underway and that condition is just going to exacerbate the situation. What we have is a European standoff and the possibility that Germany may go its own way, becomes more plausible with every passing day. .........

Fed Now Largest Owner of U.S. Gov’t Debt—Surpassing China | CNSnews.com
November 16, 2011
"In its latest monthly report, the Federal Reserve said that as of Sept. 28, it owned $1.665 trillion in U.S. Treasury securities. That was more than double the $812 billion in U.S. Treasury securities the Fed said it owned as of Sept. 29, 2010.Meanwhile, as of the end of this September, entities in mainland China owned $1.1483 trillion in U.S. Treasury securities, according to data published todayby the U.S. Treasury Department. That was down slightly from the $1.1519 trillion in U.S. Treasury securities the Chinese owned as of the end of September 2010, according to the same Treasury Department report. Thus, at the end of September 2010, the Chinese owned about $339.9 billion more in U.S. Treasury securities than the Fed owned at that time. By the end of September 2011, the Fed owned about $516.7 billion more in U.S. Treasury securities than the Chinese owned.".......

Lessons for Life and Investing with Author, Investor Jim Rogers 2/3

One of the opening thoughts he share’s is to take our own plunge into the world or living: It is important to decide for yourself what’s important to you and what you want before you turn to others. “Swim your own races: Do not Let Others Do Your Thinking for you”, he says. His skepticism to depend on others is reflected throughout the writings. For a self-made man, I think it is an apt attitude. He goes on to tell the importance of being a self-starter. He picked empty soda bottles from the streets and made money from it at the age of six.
The fundamental style by which this investor operates is by cutting across social barriers, political barriers and geographical barriers. He believes in going where his money works best. Unlike his countrymen who are poor travellers, Jim loves to go across the world all on his own; he enjoys seeing the cultural and moral life of others.
Where should a person start in order to be successful? The answer is easy: Try as many things as you can, then pursue the one (or two or three) about which you’re passionate. People who follow their passions do not “go to work.”
On book learning: Jim is a bit allergic to sterile academic learning. He speaks about the importance of learning through observing life and attitudes of people and society. No amount of book learning can bring in the information one gets from this kind of field experience. He writes: Let the world be a part of your perspective. He quotes Rudyard Kipling’ “The English Flag”:
Winds of the World, give answer! They are whimpering to and fro —
And what should they know of England who only England know?
Again, He says,
“People who can observe events as they unfold will certainly acquire wealth. After touring the world from 1990 to 1992, I wrote my first book , Investment Biker. Recently a reporter remarked to me how many of the predictions I made in that book had come true, such as the rise of nationalism and militant Islam, “How was I able to foresee the future?” he wanted to know. I simply did what an experienced investor did: I read the news”.

Lang Xianping: China's Economic Depression Has Begun
by ChinaForbiddenNews on Nov 7, 2011

On October 22, Lang Xianping, an economics professor
at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, gave a private talk in Shenyang City in Liaoning Province.
He cited statistics showing why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
is trapped in an economic crisis and is at brink of bankruptcy.
Some scholars say that Lang's conclusion is not surprising at all,
for they themselves hold the same the view.
Lang Xianping's speech, which was widely circulated online,
pointed out that
the CCP's official published growth rate of 9.1% and
its inflation rate of 6.2%, are false.
Instead he says, China as a nation, is bankrupt.
Lang Xianping: "The 9.1% figure is false. The inflation rate of
6.2% is also false. Inflation has reached at least 16%!
Do you know how to calculate the gross domestic product
(GDP) figure? Nine minus six.
The actual growth rate, according to the CCP's data,
should be less than 3%.
What if the inflation rate was 16%?
What's the GDP growth rate? Minus seven percent. The situation is this serious."
Professor Lang said that all of the CCP's current policies are
covering up the deep, murky reality of China's economy.
He cited the Purchasing Managers Index to explain that
back to early July, China's economy entered a recession.
Lang Xianping: "The Purchasing Managers Index,
which was just released, showed a reading above 50.
This indicates normal economic growth, while below 50
means the country is entering into a recession.
Now among China, the U.S., and Europe, let me tell you,
the first country that has gone into recession is China.
It started in July. But has anyone reported the news?
No. Why? No one is allowed to report it."
Now, China's stock market fell from 3,000 points in April,
to 2,313 points in October.
But other markets such as property, cars, luxury goods,
antiques, and art, among others, are really booming.
The co-existence of such a bleak winter and boiling summer
can only take place in China.
The basic reason is that China's manufacturing Industry crisis
has just begun.
Lang Xianping: "Field research conducted by
The Economic Observer, a weekly Chinese newspaper,
shows that the production rate of the apparel industry
in Jiangsu Prov. and Zhejiang Prov., is less than 33%.
The plastic industry is 50%, the rubber industry is 60%,
the soybeans extraction industry is less than 30%.
My own survey shows that at present,
60% of all Leather-processing plants have shut down in Haining, China."
Professor Lang also cited that although the total capacity of
China's power plants is 916 million kilowatts, the utilization rate is only 40%.
By June 20, the volume of iron ore piled up in China's
various ports has reached 98.9 million tons,
far more than the 7,098 tons imported
during the period of financial crisis of last few years.
This data shows that in reality, in China,
an economic depression has begun.
Lang pointed out that 70% of China's GDP came from
infrastructure construction, which, in reality, has not brought any economic benefits to the country.
For example, before the former Soviet Union collapsed,
70% of its GDP relied on military engineering projects.
The current situation in China is very similar to that of
former Soviet Union, at that time.
Once China's manufacturing industry pillar collapses,
the country's seemingly impressive infrastructure construction, won't last longer.

After the Summit: buying panic on global stock exchanges! Stock market rallied on global stock exchanges. Banks participate with the average debt in Greece. Brilliant autumn rally continues. Panic buying at the Moscow stock exchange. by Andreas Männicke This was a historic night in Brussels: After the EU summit in Brussels 27 October, the world's stock markets reacted with a stock market rallied. Greece gets 50% of their debts if banks participate. It will put together an aid package worth 100 billion €. The banks have to increase its capital ratio to 9% and thus be recapitalized. It is a Europe-wide financial transaction tax to be introduced, remained open only when and in what amount. EFSF help in an emergency levered up to € 1 trillion to needy countries and banks. Hardly a representative of the people understood the - also poorly translated - right lever at the EU summit, to happiness. A partial failure can become a total failure. The bailout might fail. Then only can help the ECB with gold print. So it should come in spite of the de facto bankruptcy of Greece no bank failures, which goes from the moment at least the market. This set of measures was enough to a true course on Thursday to trigger fireworks, especially among European banks. The courses of the German Bank AG and Commerzbank AG were down by as much as 16.7 and 15.8%. This seems the Risikoapettit investors gradually come back. But I also believe Gewinnmintnahmen fast again. My strategy to buy with staggered Abstauberlimits in September, went on with it. I also had time to rally in the fall of brilliant potential EAST STOCK TRENDS (www.eaststock.de ) attention. Sales from panic buying panic was on Thursday......... |

HERE’S WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE ECONOMY… (And How To Fix It)
By Henry Blodget | Daily Ticker – Mon, Oct 3, 2011 2:13 PM EDT
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/wrong-economy-fix-181308391.html
The United States is in a very tough spot, economically and politically. The 25-year debt-fueled boom of 1982-2007 has ended, and it has left the country with a stagnant economy, massive debts, high unemployment, huge wealth inequality, an enormous budget deficit, and a sense of entitlement engendered by a half-century of prosperity.
After decades of instant gratification, Americans have also come to believe that all problems can be solved instantly, if only the right leaders are put in charge and the right decisions are made. And so our government has devolved into a permanent election campaign, in which incumbents blame each other for the current mess, and challengers promise change.
The trouble is that our current problems cannot be solved with a simple fix. They also cannot be solved quickly. It took 25 years for us to get to this point, and it will likely take us at least a decade or two to work our way out of it, even if we make the right decisions.
So it is time that we began to face reality.
THE PROBLEM: TOO MUCH DEBT
The biggest debt binge in US history, by a mile. Four years ago, when the debt-fueled boom ended and the economy plunged into recession, most economists and politicians misdiagnosed the problem.
They thought we were having just another post-War recession—a serious recession, yes, but a cyclical one, a recession that easy money, government stimulus, and a return of "confidence" could fix.
A handful of economists, meanwhile, argued that the recession was actually fundamentally different—a "balance sheet" recession resulting from a quarter-century-long debt-binge, one that would take a decade or more to fix.
In the past four years, it has become increasingly clear that the latter diagnosis was correct: The US economy is behaving exactly the way other economies have behaved after piling up mountains of debt and eventually going through a financial crisis. It is bumping along with disappointing growth, high unemployment, and, increasingly (and understandably) social unrest.
Total US debt, including households, companies, and the government. Can you say "$50 Trillion"?
So how do you get out of a "balance sheet" recession triggered by too much debt? You reduce the debt.
So how do you get out of a "balance sheet" recession triggered by too much debt? You reduce the debt.
More specifically—and here's the critical point—you reduce the debt that is crippling the productive part of the economy. This is the part that creates most of the jobs, prosperity, and wealth. It is also the part that pays for the rest of the economy. That part is the private sector.
What debt is crippling the private sector?...........

Muammar Gaddafi, the 'king of kings' dies in city of his birth
Libya's former leader killed by rebels in Sirte in wake of French airstrike, although precise details of his death remain unclear
Peter Beaumont
guardian.co.uk, Thursday 20 October 2011 21.54 BST
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was born in Sirte, and when he became the ruler of all Libya, he transformed it from an insignificant fishing village into the country's sprawling second city. On Thursday, after a brutal – and ultimately hopeless – last stand, it was the place where he died.
For the past three weeks, with Gaddafi's whereabouts still unknown, government fighters had been puzzled by the bitter and determined resistance from loyalist fighters. Trapped in a tiny coastal strip just a few hundred metres wide, they had refused to give up, even when a victory by the forces of Libya's National Transitional Council seemed inevitable.
Here at last was the answer: they had been fighting to the death with their once-great leader in their midst......

In the 1950s it was home to around 600 hardworking farmers. Today this figure stands closer to 35,000. We are of course talking of Huaxi, a so-called ‘village’ in China’s Jiangsu province sprawling outwards at breakneck speed which last week opened a breathtakingly lavish 328m tower costing 3bn Yuan (£301m).An Internet storm followed as blogs and Twitter users picked up on reports from reliable news sources listing seemingly impossible statistics: a £31m solid gold statue of an ox weighing over a tonne; a large proportion of the Huaxi villagers each donating 10m Yuan in shares; genuine flakes of gold inlaid on the reception floor...
The 800-suite building which acts primarily as a hotel and conference centre under the title Longxi International Hotel has become a symbol of China’s construction industry but for many, this is a bridge too far. Jonathan Watts, respected contributor to The Guardian, penned an enlightening article on Thursday detailing the troubles that may arise on the back of this luxury tower.

September 14 2011: The prices of gold and silver were subdued for so long but no more, greater swings in metals forecast, a new scenario today for this current phase of the metals market, new bumps in the road to look out for, purchasing power robbed with the printing of money, deficits out of control.
In the case for gold and silver, it has been go long and stay long for 11 years. During that period great gains have been made during what was the formidable first phase of the gold and silver bull market. Gold was $260.00 and silver was $3.50. Some stocks rose from $4.00 to $86.00, some from $0.80 to $42.00. This performance in spite of gold and silver suppression by the US government. In their desire to keep gold and silver subdued all the government really accomplished was to offer an opportunity for buyers to buy at lower prices than they normally would have been able too. In that process buyers have been able to stay ahead of inflation and many have made large profits. We have convinced almost all not to try to trade these markets, because they have not been professionally trained to do so. That concept has worked quite well and will continue to do so. The problem with novice trading is that if you get out you may never get back in. You must outsmart the market ignoring the gyrations and stick to the long-term objective. This bull market in gold and silver, now almost 11-1/2 years old will probably last another 5 to 10 years even if the system collapses. In the end our formula has worked well and avoided commission costs, something we are acutely aware of having been in the brokerage business for almost 30 years.
Each phase of the bull market is somewhat different. It wasn’t all that long ago that we predicted swings in gold prices of $20 to $30 to $100 a day in gold, than $0.50 to $2.00 in silver swings that we have just experienced. Next it will be $100 to $200 to $400 swings daily. Long-term investors may not like volatility, but traders sure do, and that draws more players into the game. A good example is the past few weeks where we saw $200 swings in gold and $5.00 swings in silver. The gold and silver shares, having languished for three years have started to come to life. They have been victims of shorting and naked shorting by the PPT and hedge funds, which appears to be lessening. We also see more institutions as buyers of these issues. Brokerage firms have advised their brokers to use the ETFs, GLD and SLV, as vehicles to play the gold market, when they do not have the physical gold and silver they say they have. They are an accident waiting to happen. The unexpected downdraft mining shares experience three years ago was caused by institutional de-leveraging of positions that were 100 to 300 to one. Even banks got up to 70 to one. That has changed with leverage at 10 to 30 to one and almost all of these participants are either out of the sector or short. The scenario today is totally different and explosive. ........

August was sure a barnburner and we believe that was a prelude for an even wilder September. How often do you see gold fall $200.00 in 3 days and recover $187 in 6 days? In our 53 years of involvement in this sector we have never seen anything like this. This shows you what government manipulation is all about. Get used to it, this is what living in a corporatist fascist society is all about.
July saw the stock market lose about $7 trillion and that could just be a forerunner to lower prices and larger losses. CNBC parades the same old characters from Wall Street across the stage to tell us everything is fine, and that all and sundry should remain bullish on America. Realism and truth are subjects they might attempt to explore.
Any professional knows gold does not naturally fall from $1,914 to $1,704 in 3 days.
